Good Mexican food in an easily accessible location with ample parking and friendly attentive service at affordable prices.
The soup prior to the meal is a great appetizer and the fresh salsa with the chips are addicting. The fresh tortillas are a highlight that you'll want to jump on as soon as they arrive at the table.
The entrees are pretty good, but nothing to write home about. They do have an extensive menu to satisfy whatever you're in the mood for and do a decent job with everything we've tried on it over the years. Definitely get extra salsa so you can add it to help kick up your entree; it's seasoned well enough, but most need additional salsa.
Definitely worth a visit when you are in the mood for Mexican food. -

This is one of my locals. Since moving to this part of town less than two years ago, I've probably eaten breakfast here 25 times. Haven't tried any other meal of the day yet. LOL.
But great "desayunos" selection and a wide range of prices starting from under $6. Very good machacca and excellent chorizo con huevos. You can have basically any dish served in burrito form for 55% of the plate price. I don't understand this concept but it seems to be the New Mexican way.
The plates are ample enough to split with the wife. And if you can manage to conserve (not easy to do when this good), you could split into two breakfasts.
Tortillas are where Delicias stands out among the competition. They're made in house, as are their sweet breads. But we're normally here too early for those. I know that they'll walk them around when fresh.
Coffee is served in a hot canteen carafe (I love this). -

After living in Albuquerque for the past 5 years, this is my first time trying this Cafe. I had the combo number 3, and OMG it was amazing. It came with a soup that was just right, it was so much food and the price was great. The food had so much flavor to it, I think I found my new spot for Mexican food. Oh and did I mention that they make their own tortillas in the restaurant. I will be back again.

Disclaimer: We aren't from New Mexico. That being said our friends said do you want old school Mexican food? We said sure. The four of us went here one Friday evening. The decor was nice and atmosphere was good for a diner/cafe. The server seemed a little impatient when we placed our drink order. After which we were left to read the menu.... for a while we read the menu and talk. Then our server was ready. When placing the orders we were informed they were out of beef soup, which was fine with me. Well when he brought out the soup he told one person that we got the last of the beef soup. The rest of the party did not hear this, my husband & myself don't eat beef. Well we got beef soup instead of chicken. The soup, the refried beans and over all the meal was bland. I have near had bland Mexican food. Usually it's too spicy. Sorry to say this was a bad experience.

Delicias Café serves Mexican food modeled after the cuisine of Chihuahua. It is not New Mexican food, and stands out as a good example of the food that you can expect from the nearest Mexican state just to our south. You will not find elegant food at Delicias, but you will find hearty stuff at a price that borders on ridiculously low. So dig in.
Delicias (Spanish for Delights) is a city in the Mexican state of Chihuahua and serves as the seat of the municipality of the same name. It is located southeast of the state capital, Chihuahua. Delicias was declared an official municipality of the state of Chihuahua on January 7, 1935. Delicias is small industrial city and a major agricultural center located in the Conchos River Valley. The city had a 2005 census population of 108,807 (municipality: 127,211). It was founded on 30 April 1933, making it Mexico's youngest city. The municipality of Delicias is one of the smallest in the state. The population of the Metro area is 127,211.
Here are three characteristics of this state's cuisine:
**Expert beef preparation associated with its arid-inland ranching
**Much processed food and articles made of wheat flour instead of cornmeal because of its proximity to the USA
**Mennonite settlements responsible for good cheese.

Oh, yeah -- the food. Varies between good and excellent.
@Mole Poblano: on Shredded Chicken Breast
A great mole poblano is hard to find in these here parts. The version at Delicias is good, but certainly not great. I found the mole to be somewhat fruity tasting, a bit thin, and too chocolaty. It's as if it was made with Hershey's chocolate syrup instead of quality Mexican chocolate. And too much of it, whatever it was.
I really prefer this mole served atop whole chicken pieces (breast, thigh, and drumstick that have stewed in the sauce until tender and falling off the bone. I think that using shredded chicken breast falls short of being desirable. Your choice, though.
Asado Delicias: Three Chile Red Sauce

@Asado Delicias: Three Chile Red Sauce
This is the meal that will keep bringing me back here. Most New Mexicans rave about Carne Adovada, and rightfully so. Made correctly, it is a spectacular dish, and one that I use as a benchmark for rating New Mexican restaurants. Asado Delicias is a close relative with one fundamental difference: there are three different red chiles as well as spices in this dish while Adovada has but one --the new Mexico red chile. The marinated pork can be braised or baked to a falling-apart texture.
Delicias red is earthy, smoky, highly complex, and fantastically delicious. I suspect that the smokiness comes from chipotle chiles, bit the restaurant staff didn't know what varieties the chiles are. I will make it a high priority task to find out -- I want to duplicate this dish in my own cocina.
For me, the highlight of my visits was the Pastel de Tres Leches.
I employ this desert as a benchmark to test the quality of Mexican (and Cuban) restaurants. This Tres Leches passed all the tests: Appearance (perfect), taste (perfect, and texture (perfect). The texture is moist (and not soggy) with almond-flavored milk.
This is the very best Tres Leches I have ever had in New Mexico. It is so good that I would make a special trip for it. So will The Dazzler.
Very fine Flan and Horchata. Read a full review on my blog.
